March 21 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 9:28 a.m. in Taipei.
The Taiex Index added 0.4 percent to 8,002.19.
AU Optronics Corp. (2409 TT) climbed 2.6 percent to NT$15.55, and Chimei Innolux Corp. (3481 TT) added 2 percent to NT$15.60, both the most since March 9. The Commercial Times reported that AU Optronics raised prices of 24-inch and 40-inch panels and those used in surveillance cameras. Yawen Hsiao, a spokeswoman for the Hsinchu, Taiwan-based company declined to comment.
Formosa Plastics Corp. (1301 TT) dropped 0.7 percent to NT$88.30, headed for the lowest close since Feb. 16. The company reported 2011 full-year net income of NT$35.7 billion, less than the NT$38.6 billion average of analyst estimates.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (2330 TT) climbed 2 percent to NT$84.90, poised to close at a record. Taiwan’s economics ministry reported export orders rebounded in February, led by demand for electronics products.
