March 15 (Bloomberg) -- Athletic Bilbao beat Manchester United 2-1 to knock the English Premier League leader out of soccer’s Champions League.
Fernando Llorente and Oscar de Marcos scored as Bilbao won 5-3 over two games to reach the quarterfinals of Europe’s second-tier club competition. Wayne Rooney scored for United.
Hannover beat Standard Liege 4-0 to complete a 6-2 series win, Valencia eliminated PSV Eindhoven 5-3 following a 1-1 tie and AZ Alkmaar advanced 3-2 over Udinese after a 2-1 loss.
Four more games wil be played later tonight, including Sporting Lisbon taking a 1-0 lead into its match at Manchester City.
