Polish Stocks: Empik, Jastrzebska Shares Are Active in Warsaw

March 13 (Bloomberg) -- Poland’s WIG20 Index advanced 0.3 percent to 2,298.33 at 5:30 p.m. in Warsaw, gaining for the second day.

The following were among the most active stocks on the Warsaw Stock Exchange today. Stock symbols follow company names.

Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW PW), the Polish company that’s the European Union’s largest coking-coal producer, dropped for the first time in five days, retreating 3 percent to 102.7 zloty after saying it saw the benchmark price of coal falling to a range of $210 to $215 a ton in the second quarter from $235 a ton in the first quarter.

NFI Empik Media & Fashion SA (EMF PW) jumped 5.6 percent to 9.87 zloty, the most in almost a month, after Penta Investments Ltd. and Eastbridge Group bid 407 million zloty ($130 million) to buy a 40 percent stake in the largest Polish retailer of books and music. The investment funds are offering to pay 9.85 zloty a share, the companies said in a joint e-mailed statement today. Eastbridge holds a 60 percent stake in Empik.
