Chilean Stocks: AES Gener, CMPC, Falabella and Sonda Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index rose 0.1 percent to 4,520.31. The MSCI Chile index gained 0.3 percent to 2,610.49.

AES Gener SA (GENER CC) advanced 0.6 percent to 293.16 pesos, its third day of gains. Chile’s second-largest power producer reported yesterday a 92 percent increase in full-year 2011 net income to $326 million.

Empresas CMPC SA (CMPC CC) fell 0.2 percent to 2,077.3 pesos, and earlier declined 1.4 percent, its fifth day of losses. Chile’s second-largest pulp exporter reported yesterday a 23 percent drop in full-year 2011 net income to $492 million. The results were below analysts’ estimates, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

SACI Falabella (FALAB CC) advanced 1 percent to 4,657.2 pesos. Chile’s largest retailer by market value had its price target increased to 5,400 pesos from 5,000 pesos at Barclays Capital, which also reiterated an “overweight” recommendation, the equivalent of a buy rating.

Sonda SA (SONDA CC) increased 0.7 percent to 1,400 pesos, its second day of gains. Chile’s largest information technology company bought Brazilian software developer PARS for $55 million, its fifth acquisition in the South American country.
