March 8 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index rose 1 percent to 7,984.56, snapping a four-day losing streak.
Apple Inc.-related shares: Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317 TT), which assembles products for Apple, gained 2.2 percent to NT$101. Catcher Technology Co. (2474 TT), a casing maker, increased 3 percent to NT$225.50. Apple introduced a new version of the iPad, beefing up the two-year-old mobile computer with a sharper screen and faster chip to widen its lead over Amazon.com Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Google Inc. in the tablet market.
Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (2311 TT) advanced 1.4 percent to NT$28.20. The integrated circuit maker’s February sales rose 2.7 percent from a year earlier to NT$5.2 billion ($176 million).
