New York Knicks’ Comeback Stalls in 95-85 Loss in Dallas to Mavs

March 6 (Bloomberg) -- A fourth-quarter comeback fell short and the New York Knicks lost their third straight road game with a 95-85 defeat at the Dallas Mavericks.

The Knicks trailed 77-63 after three quarters before opening the fourth period with a 15-0 run to take a one-point lead.

Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki then scored six straight points, Jason Kidd hit a 3-pointer and Nowitzki hit another jumper to highlight a 14-0 run as the Mavs rebuilt their lead.

Nowitzki finished with 28 points for Dallas (23-17), the defending National Basketball Association champion. Amar’e Stoudemire had 26 points for the Knicks (18-20), who have lost five of their last eight games after going on a seven-game winning streak with Jeremy Lin as their new point guard.

Lin had 14 points on 4-for-13 shooting and seven assists.
