Hungary Mulls Special Telecom Tax to Help BKV, Index Reports

Hungary is planning to levy a special tax on telecommunications and public-utility companies in the capital to help finance the money-losing Budapest public transport company BKV Zrt., news website Index reported late yesterday, without saying how it obtained the information.

The government seeks to raise 15 billion forint ($67 million) per year from the new levy, according to Index.
