March 7 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies are having unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 11:42 a.m. local time.
The Ipsa index rose 0.1 percent to 4,489.08. The MSCI Chile index advanced 0.2 percent to 2,550.20.
Cia. Sud Americana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC), Chile’s biggest container shipping company, climbed 1.1 percent to 42.5 pesos. The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of commodity shipping costs, rose 1.4 percent to 798 points, according to the Baltic Exchange in London.
SACI Falabella (FALAB CC) fell for a fifth day, losing 0.5 percent to 4,600 pesos. Chile’s largest retailer by market value posted fourth-quarter declines in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization margins on increased promotional activity and higher payroll expenses, Banco Santander SA wrote in an e-mailed note to clients. Falabella reported earnings after the close of trading yesterday.
Soc. Quimica y Minera de Chile SA (SQM/B CC) rose for the first time in four days, gaining 1.1 percent to 28,150 pesos. The country’s biggest fertilizer exporter’s fourth-quarter net income was $159 million, up from $106 million a year ago, according to a statement e-mailed after the close of trading yesterday. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Bloomberg was for profit of $145 million.
