March 6 (Bloomberg) -- Argentina’s central bank holds its weekly auction of fixed- and floating-rate peso debt today.
Teachers’ unions stage a national strike to demand higher wages.
WHAT TO WATCH
* Argentina’s central bank announces results of its weekly auction of fixed- and floating-rate peso debt at about 7 p.m. local time.
* Port workers and stevedores will stage a 1-day strike March 7 at all the country’s ports, the two unions said in an e-mailed statement.
* The Merval Index fell 2.4 percent to 2,690.58 yesterday, led by YPF SA, the country’s biggest energy company, which fell 6.9 percent to 132.7 pesos.
* The peso was little changed at 4.3350 per dollar. The currency has declined 0.8 percent against the dollar this year.
