March 5 (Bloomberg) -- The 48-year-old captain of a Greek tanker that sank this morning was found dead, according to the Maritime Ministry.
The vessel sank near Elefsina, west of Athens, a ministry spokesman, who declined to be named in line with policy, said by telephone today. The captain’s body was recovered by a rescue team. The other crew members were unhurt.
The vessel belongs to the Greek company Viamar and was carrying a crew of 11, 1,800 tons of crude oil and 235 tons of fuel oil, the ministry’s spokesman said.
