Brazil Judge Rejects Halt to Chevron Operations, Estado Says

A Brazilian judge rejected a request by the federal prosecutor’s office to suspend the local operations of Chevron Corp. and Transocean Ltd., Agencia Estado reported, citing a decision by Judge Raffaele Felice Pirro.

On Dec. 14, Chevron and Transocean were asked by a Brazilian federal prosecutor to suspend operations and pay 20 billion reais ($11.8 billion) in damages after an oil spill of about 3,000 barrels off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state.
