Feb. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.4 percent to 7,921.50.
AU Optronics Corp. (2409 TT) lost 4.5 percent to NT$14.90. Chimei Innolux Corp. (3481 TT) decreased 4.7 percent to NT$15.20. Taiwan’s television panel shipments fell 21 percent in January from a month ago, larger than the 7.7 percent decline for the global market, Jih Sun Securities Ltd. said in a note.
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317 TT) dropped 2.9 percent to NT$96.80, the biggest decline since Dec. 15. Lu Sung-Ching, a board member, filed to sell 950,000 shares in the company, according to a stock-exchange statement yesterday. The stock was cut to “neutral” from “overweight” at HSBC Holdings Plc.
Ta Chong Bank Ltd. (2847 TT) jumped 5.8 percent to NT$11.80, the highest close since July 7. Fubon Financial Holding Co. (2881 TT) may offer NT$15 a share to buy the financial services company, the Commercial Times reported, without saying where it got the information. Fubon retreated 0.7 percent to NT$33.95. Fubon and Ta Chong denied the report in separate statements to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
