Austria’s Schild Wins Women’s World Cup Slalom; Vonn Crashes

Feb. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Austria’s Mariles Schild won today’s women’s World Cup slalom race in Andorra, as overall points leader Lindsey Vonn of the U.S. crashed.

Schild finished in 1 minute, 39.44 seconds to beat Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter, with Austria’s Kathrin Zettel third. Schild has a 239-point lead in the slalom standings over Slovenia’s Tina Maze, who was 11th.

Vonn didn’t finish after falling on her first run. She continues to lead the overall World Cup standings by 460 points over Maze.

Switzerland’s Beat Feuz won the men’s downhill on the course to be used for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Feuz had a time of 2:14.10 to beat out Canada’s Benjamin Thomsen and France’s Adrien Theaux.
