Feb. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Daimler AG board member Wolfgang Bernhard, who is deputy head of the Mercedes brand, has been given a new five-year contract, Handelsblatt reported in a preview of an article to be published tomorrow, citing unidentified people with knowledge of the contract.
The appointment puts Bernhard in prime position to succeed Dieter Zetsche as Daimler’s chief executive officer, Handelsblatt said.
Marc Binder, a spokesman for Daimler, didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail and telephone call seeking comment.
