Jan. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Manchester City lost 1-0 at Everton to fall into a tie with Manchester United, which beat Stoke 2-0, at the top of the English Premier League standings.
Darren Gibson’s goal in the 60th minute gave Everton the victory, while Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov scored with penalty kicks for United. The Manchester teams have 54 points, with City having a superior goal difference.
Third-place Tottenham beat Wigan 3-1 to pull within five points the leaders. Chelsea, playing with 10-men, tied Swansea on an own goal in stoppage time, while Liverpool beat Wolverhampton 3-0.
