Jan. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, the 650-attorney U.S. law firm, named Robert Shuftan as its new managing partner.
Shuftan’s appointment will take effect Feb. 2, the firm said today in a statement. Edwards Wildman also elected Laurence Harris to serve as deputy managing partner and Alan Levin as firm chairman, according to the statement. All three will serve three-year terms, the firm said.
“This is an exciting opportunity to lead an excellent law firm with broad practices and geography, strong clients and very talented lawyers,” Shuftan said in the statement. “We are confident that the firm is poised for additional growth and success.”
Shuftan, based in Chicago, served as managing partner of Wildman Harrold Allen & Dixon LLP for 13 years before that firm merged in October with Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge to form the current firm. He succeeds Walter Reed, who will resume regular practice.
Edwards Wildman has offices in the U.S., U.K. and Japan. The firm also has an associated office in Hong Kong.
