The Merval Index rose 0.6 percent to 2,914.93.
Grupo Financiero Galicia SA (GGAL AF) advanced 1.6 percent to 3.76 pesos. Argentina’s largest consumer lender was the most active stock today with 9.5 million pesos ($2.2 million) changing hands, and rose in line with global stocks after the U.S. Federal Reserve said it would keep its benchmark interest rate low until at least late 2014.
Petrobras Argentina SA (PESA AF) rose 2.5 percent to 7.9 pesos. The Argentine oil company has increased 9.1 percent in the last two days after a new chief executive officer was appointed for its controller, Brazil’s state-controlled Petroleo Brasileiro SA.
