Kinder Trans Mountain Line Oversubscribed 73% in February

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Demand to move oil in February through Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP’s Trans Mountain pipeline system exceeds capacity by 73 percent, according to a bulletin to shippers.

Subscriptions on the portion of the system delivering to refineries in British Columbia and Washington are 75 percent over capacity, the company said in the bulletin.

The Trans Mountain mainline system is expected to carry 275,759 barrels a day in February, 5.8 percent above estimated January shipments of 260,700, according a Dec. 19 notice.

The Puget Sound line will carry 120,292 barrels a day next month, the company said today.

The 715-mile (1,150-kilometer) Trans Mountain system runs from Edmonton, Alberta, to marketing terminals and refineries in central British Columbia, the Vancouver area and the Puget Sound region in Washington, according to the company’s website.

Crude and products also move to California, the U.S. Gulf Coast and overseas through the Westridge marine terminal in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Kinder said in a separate statement that February oil shipments on a section of its Platte pipeline system from Guernsey, Wyoming, to Wood River, Illinois, were apportioned by 71 percent.
