Bernanke’s Easing Option, Apple, Iran: Week Ahead Jan. 23-28

Jan. 23 (Bloomberg)-- Federal Reserve Chairman Ben. S. Bernanke may indicate a third round of large-scale asset purchases is still an option to bolster the economy after a two-day meeting of the Fed’s Open Market Committee. European Union Finance Ministers will discuss the region’s sovereign debt crisis as Germany’s Ifo survey gives a snapshot of business sentiment in Europe’s largest economy.

EU foreign ministers are likely to authorize a phased embargo of oil imports from Iran.

The World Economic Forum takes place in Davos, Switzerland. In the U.S., Apple Inc., Ford Motor Co. and McDonald’s Corp. will be among companies releasing results.

The Year of the Dragon starts in China and other Asian nations. Nominees for the Academy Awards will be announced.
