Utah Jazz’s Favors Fined $25,000 for Throwing Ball Into Stands

Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Utah Jazz’s Derrick Favors was fined $25,000 for throwing a ball into the spectator stands during his team’s 94-91 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 19, the National Basketball Association said.

The 20-year-old player’s infraction occurred with 24.8 seconds left in the third quarter of the game, said Stu Jackson, NBA executive vice president of Basketball Operations, in a statement.

With 1:23 left in the third quarter, C.J. Miles hit a layup to give the Jazz a 71-69 lead. During the next minute, Earl Watson was assessed a technical foul and Dirk Nowitzki narrowed the gap to 71-70 with a technical free throw with 56 seconds left.

Favors was called for a technical 32 seconds later and ejected as Nowitzki tied the game at 71-71 with his second technical free throw.
