Suter Wins Super-G Ski Race as World Cup Leader Vonn Struggles

Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Switzerland’s Fabienne Suter won the women’s super-G ski race in Bad Klienkirchheim, Austria, as World Cup leader Lindsey Vonn finished 18th.

Suter, 27, clocked 1 minute, 9.55 seconds to claim her first World Cup victory today in almost three years. Slovenia’s Tina Maze finished 0.34 seconds back, with Anna Fenninger of Austria in third.

Vonn tops the overall standings with 704 points, 164 ahead of Austria’s Marlies Schild. The American leads the super-G and downhill competitions.

In Adelboden, Switzerland, Marcel Hirscher won a third straight race to extend his lead atop the men’s overall World Cup standings.

The Austrian was first in a slalom on Jan. 5 in Zagreb, and in a giant slalom at Adelboden yesterday.
