Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Amar’e Stoudemire scored 22 points for the New York Knicks in their 103-80 rout of the Detroit Pistons in a National Basketball Association game.
Mike Bibby added 16 points last night for the Knicks, who had a 64-42 halftime lead at the Palace at Auburn Hills in Detroit. Carmelo Anthony scored 13 points in three quarters before he sat out the final period with pain from being hit in the back during the previous night’s game against Washington.
Brandon Knight led the Pistons with 19 and Greg Monroe had 15 points.
The Knicks (4-4) are in second place in the Eastern Conference’s five-team Atlantic Division, 1 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers (5-2). The Pistons, who have lost three straight games, are last in the five-team Central Division, 4 1/2 games behind Chicago (7-2).
