Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe will miss this weekend’s celebration of the centenary of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress because he is on leave in the Far East, the state-owned Herald newspaper reported, citing George Charamba, Mugabe’s spokesman.
Mugabe’s deputy, Joice Mujuru, will represent him at the event in Mangaung, in South Africa’s central Free State Province, the Harare-based newspaper said. The ANC had previously said Mugabe would attend.
