Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Carmelo Anthony scored 37 points to help the New York Knicks rally to a 99-96 victory over the Washington Wizards, the only winless team in the National Basketball Association.
Anthony put the Knicks ahead 98-96 on a 26-foot 3-pointer with 15 seconds left, while Iman Shumpert sealed the win with a free-throw shot with three seconds to go last night at the Verizon Center in Washington.
Amar’e Stoudemire had 23 points and 12 rebounds and Tyson Chandler added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Knicks (3-4), who shot 44 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free-throw line.
Nick Young led the Wizards (0-7) with 24 points followed by John Wall with 22 points. Washington connected of 49 percent of its field goal attempts and 62 percent of its foul shots.
