Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Austria’s Elisabeth Goergl won today’s women’s World Cup downhill race, as countryman Marcel Hirscher captured the men’s giant slalom.

Goergl posted a time of 1 minute, 48.40 seconds in front of the home fans in Bad Kleinkirchheim to beat Julia Mancuso of the U.S. by 0.16 seconds. Switzerland’s Fabienne Suter was third.

American Lindsay Vonn, who won the first two downhills of the season, finished fourth. Vonn continues to lead the overall and downhill season standings.

Men’s World Cup leader Hirscher won by 0.08 seconds in Adelboden, Switzerland, over teammate Benjamin Raich, with Italy’s Massimiliano Blardone third. It was his second straight race victory after capturing the slalom in Zagreb two days ago.
