Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Czech Republic defeated France to win tennis’s Hopman Cup for the second time.
Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova beat Marion Bartoli 7-5, 6-1 and Tomas Berdych defeated Richard Gasquet 7-6 6-4 to give the Czech Republic a 2-0 victory in the best-of-three final in Perth, Australia. The Czechs previously won the annual mixed-team competition in 1994.
Kvitova, No. 2 in the WTA Tour rankings, was unbeaten in her four singles matches in the competition, including a victory over top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. Berdych, ranked seventh on the ATP Tour, also won his four singles matches.
