Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Simon Bridges was elected chairman of the New Zealand parliament’s finance and expenditure select committee, which is responsible for reviewing fiscal and monetary policy decisions.
Bridges is a member of the governing National Party which was re-elected in November. His deputy will be party colleague Paul Goldsmith, according to a statement on the parliament website.
Other committee members include opposition finance spokesman David Parker, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters and Green Party co-leader Russel Norman.
