Jan. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Mozambique’s tax collections increased to 79.2 billion meticais ($3 billion) in 2011 from 63.4 billion meticais a year earlier, o Pais reported, citing Rosario Fernandes, chairman of the national tax collector known as Autoridade Tributaria.
The tax authority registered 322,835 new taxpayers during the year, more than the 301,633 planned for 2011, the Maputo-based newspaper reported. Mozambique has 1,544,119 registered tax payers compared with 391,000 in 2006, it said.
