Jan. 3 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Mexico trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close of trading.
The IPC index rose 0.1 percent to 37,384.34.
Mexican stocks followed U.S. equities higher after data showed manufacturing in the U.S., Mexico’s largest trading partner, grew in December at the fastest pace in six months.
Corp. Geo SAB (GEOB MM), Mexico’s second-largest homebuilder, rose 3.9 percent to 18.26 pesos. Urbi Desarrollos Urbanos SAB (URBI* MM), Mexico’s third-largest homebuilder, gained 2.8 percent to 16.58 pesos. Alfa SAB (ALFAA MM), the world’s largest producer of aluminum engine heads, advanced 3.1 percent to 159.11 pesos.
Grupo Mexico SAB (GMEXICOB MM), the country’s largest mining company, gained 1.7 percent to 37.43 pesos. Copper futures for March delivery rose as much as 3 percent in New York.
Industrias Penoles SAB (PE&OLES* MM), Mexico’s largest silver producer, gained 0.3 percent to 613.63 pesos. Silver futures for March delivery rose as much as 6.5 percent to $29.73 an ounce on the Comex.
