Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The Taiex Index fell 1.7 percent to 6,952.21, the lowest close since Dec. 20.
Fitipower Integrated Technology Inc. (4961 TT) jumped 18 percent to NT$23.60, the biggest gain since Dec. 27, 2010, after four subsidiaries of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317 TT) bought a 38 percent stake in the company for NT$585 million ($19 million).
Hon Hai, the world’s largest contract manufacturer of electronics, lost 1.8 percent to NT$81.40, the lowest close since Dec. 20.
Wintek Corp. (2384 TT) advanced 0.7 percent to NT$21.65. The liquid-crystal display maker invested $15.6 million in three factories in Vietnam’s Quang Chau Industrial Park in Bac Giang Province.
