German Minister Sees ‘No Alternative’ to Euro, Handelsblatt Says

Jan. 1 (Bloomberg) -- German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler sees “no alternative” to the euro for Europe to compete with American and Asian markets, Handelsblatt reported, citing an interview with the minister.

Roesler said recent agreements by European leaders to raise stability in the euro area will strengthen the solidity of the common currency, the Dusseldorf, Germany-based newspaper said in an e-mailed summary of an article to be published in tomorrow’s edition.
