Hyflux, Olam International, Tianjin Zhong Xin: Singapore Stocks

Dec. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore’s Straits Times Index slipped 0.2 percent to 2,668.74 as of the 5:10 p.m. close. Three shares fell for each that advanced in the 30-member gauge. The market was shut for a holiday yesterday.

The following were among the most active shares in the market. Stock symbols are in parentheses after the company names.

Hyflux Ltd. (HYF SP), the Singaporean water treatment company fell 3.6 percent to S$1.065. A Chinese subsidiary will sell two assets to a joint venture between Hyflux and Japan’s Mitsui & Co. for about $41.2 million, the company said in a Dec. 27 statement.

Olam International Ltd. (OLAM SP), an agricultural commodities trading company, dropped 1.4 percent to S$2.14 as prices for corn, soybeans and wheat dropped. The stock is among the biggest losers on the Straits Times Index this year.

Tianjin Zhong Xin Pharmaceutical Group Corp. (TIAN SP) jumped 54 percent after a single order for 3,000 shares was placed at 70 Singapore cents. Trading of the company’s China listed stock is suspended today for a shareholders meeting.
