Dec. 23 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.
The Bovespa index rose 0.6 percent to 57,701.07.
Banco Industrial e Comercial SA (BICB4 BS) gained 4.7 percent to 7.96 reais. BicBanco, as the company is known, led a rally for smaller Brazilian lenders after the central bank moved to protect the industry from a funding squeeze fueled by Europe’s debt crisis.
Fibria Celulose SA (FIBR3 BS) increased 4.7 percent to 14.45 reais. The world’s largest pulp producer followed commodity prices higher.
Industrias Romi SA (ROMI3 BS) gained 5.4 percent to 6.05 reais. The Brazilian machinery manufacturer paid 20.5 million euros ($26.7 million) for Burkhardt + Weber Fertigungssysteme GmbH, a German manufacturer of machine tools, according to a regulatory filing.
