Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- UBS AG, Switzerland’s largest bank, hired Mike Weir as a loan trader.
Weir most recently ran the loan trading desk at Citadel Securities, a unit of Ken Griffin’s Citadel LLC. Christiaan Brakman, a UBS spokesman, confirmed the hire. Weir declined to comment.
He reports to Jeff Teach, head of leveraged finance trading, according to people familiar with the move, who declined to be identified because they weren’t authorized to talk to the press.
Weir started today and will be based in New York on a trading floor that members of the credit sales and trading group moved to on Dec. 19 from Stamford, Connecticut, the people said. Prior to joining Citadel, he was a loan trader at Morgan Stanley. Weir worked at the bank for seven years and at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. before that.
