Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.

The Taiex Index rose 29.31 points, or 0.4 percent, to 6,662.64.

Delta Electronics Inc. (2308 TT) added 1.3 percent to NT$64.30 after buying an office building in Taipei’s Neihu district from Acer Inc. (2353 TT) for NT$2.53 billion ($83 million). Acer, the world’s fourth-largest computer maker, advanced 0.3 percent to NT$32.40, the biggest jump since Dec. 8, after saying it booked a gain of NT$653 million from the property sale.

HTC Corp. (2498 TT) rallied 7 percent to NT$476, the biggest jump since Nov. 14, after the Taoyuan, Taiwan-based company said it has created “alternative solutions” to work around a U.S. trade agency ruling that found it infringed Apple Inc. patents.

Separately, HTC will buy back 10 million of its own shares, equal to 1.16 percent of those outstanding, it said in a statement to the Taiwan stock exchange.
