Taiwan Stock: Largan Precision, Rexchip Electronics, Sampo, TPK

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are at the close of Taipei trading.

The Taiex Index fell 0.6 percent to 7,098.08, the second day of losses.

Research In Motion-related suppliers: Catcher Technology Co. slumped 6.8 percent to NT$137. TPK Holdings Co. (3673 TT) lost 3.9 percent to NT$414.50. Largan Precision Co. (3008 TT) dropped 3.3 percent to NT$504. Unimicron Technology Corp. (3037 TT) retreated 1.4 percent to NT$34.15.

RIM’s revenue missed its forecast last quarter amid accelerating market-share losses for BlackBerry smartphones and PlayBook tablets to Apple Inc.

HTC Corp. (2498 TT) slumped 7 percent to NT$448.50, the lowest close since July 5, 2010, after the company was named in a class action lawsuit in U.S., which said the company violated customers’ privacy rights.

Rexchip Electronics Co. (4932 TT) dropped 2 percent to NT$7.45 after the chipmaker’s November sales fell 48 percent from a year earlier to NT$1.36 billion.

Sampo Corp. (1604 TT) surged 7 percent to NT$8.91, the biggest advance since Feb. 15. The home appliances maker will be allowed to sell TCL Multimedia Technology-branded televisions after the two companies formed a strategic alliance, Economic Daily News reported today, without saying where it got the information.

President LC Chen, will meet today with the management of TCL Multimedia, including Chairman Tomson Li, to discuss mutual cooperation, spokesman Chiang Chuan-tien said by phone today.
