Juventus Beats Cesena in Italy’s Serie A; PSG Ends Winless Run

Dec. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Juventus beat Cesena 2-0 yesterday to maintain its two-point lead atop Italian soccer’s Serie A. Paris Saint-Germain ended a three-match winless run in France’s Ligue 1 with a 3-2 victory against Auxerre.

Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal scored for record 27-time champion Juventus, which has 29 points and remains unbeaten through 13 league matches. AC Milan and Udinese are two points back.

Two days ago, Milan won 2-0 at Genoa, while Udinese defeated Inter Milan 1-0. Lazio can move to 25 points if it beats Novara today.

In the weekend’s other games, Napoli beat Lecce 4-2, Fiorentina defeated Roma 3-0, Cagliari won 1-0 at Catania, Chievo and Atalanta tied 0-0, Bologna beat Siena 1-0, and Parma played to a scoreless draw against Palermo.

Paris Saint-Germain remains second in France, three points behind Montpellier, after its win yesterday. Defending champion Lille is third, two points behind.

Montpellier defeated Lorient 4-0, and Lille beat AC Ajaccio 3-2.

Schalke climbed to fourth in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory over last-place Augsburg, its goals scored by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Christian Fuchs and Raul.

Bayern Munich tops the standings with 31 points, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Moenchengladbach are on 30 with Schalke on 28. Two days ago, Bayern beat Werder Bremen 4-1, while Dortmund and Moenchengladbach tied 1-1.

Malaga missed a chance to join fourth-place Levante on 26 points in Spain as it suffered a 3-2 defeat at Real Sociedad. Atletico Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano 3-1 and Osasuna won 2-1 against Real Betis among yesterday’s other games.

Real Madrid leads La Liga with 37 points following a 3-0 victory at Sporting Gijon on Dec. 3, three points ahead of Barcelona -- a 5-0 winner against Levante. Valencia beat Espanyol 2-1 and has 30 points.

AZ Alkmaar missed an opportunity to stretch its three-point lead in Dutch soccer’s Eredivisie as it slumped to a 5-1 defeat at Heerenveen yesterday. Second-place PSV Eindhoven was defeated 2-0 at Feyenoord the previous day. FC Twente and Ajax both won and are four points further back.
