NYSE, Bloomberg Form Regional Indexes to Follow Renewable Energy

Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- NYSE Euronext, operator of the New York Stock Exchange and Euronext, and Bloomberg New Energy Finance created three regionally focused stock indexes to track the world’s shift to renewable power sources.

They cover the Americas; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Asia and Oceania, and will be joined in the next few months by similar indexes focused on specific renewable-energy technologies, such as solar, wind and electric vehicles, London-based BNEF said today in a statement.

The three lists of equities will give investors a better look at funding trends in the three regions than from existing stock indexes, said New Energy Finance Chief Executive Officer Michael Liebreich.

“There is a need for more detail, particularly about the differing growth prospects for clean energy companies in regions of the world,” Liebreich said today in a statement.

The NYSE-BNEF Asia Oceania Clean Energy Index has the ticker NBASCEUP; the NYSE-BNEF Europe, Middle East and Africa Clean Energy Index uses the ticker NBEACEUP; and the NYSE-BNEF Americas Clean Energy Index is NBAMCEUP. They include 125 to 325 stocks.
