Nov. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Bayerische Motoren Werke AG and Toyota Motor Corp. are in discussions over sharing engines, Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported, citing unidentified people close to the negotiations.
Munich-based BMW would supply its diesel engines to Toyota in return for the Japanese rival’s hybrid technology in a deal that may be announced this week, the newspaper said.
Mathias Schmidt, a BMW spokesman, declined to comment when contacted by telephone today.
