Nigeria’s Oando Opens Gas Link to Supply Industry, Utilities

Nov. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Oando Plc, which is building a gas pipeline network in sub-Saharan Africa, said it opened a 128 kilometer (80 mile) stretch in Nigeria’s southeast to supply industry and power stations.

The pipeline can ship 100 million standard cubic feet of gas a day, the Lagos-based company said today in an e-mailed statement. That’s about 2.8 million cubic meters a day, according to Bloomberg calculations.

The link will supply 22 million cubic feet of gas a day to Unicem, a cement maker owned by Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, Holcim Ltd. and Lafarge SA. Oando is building the biggest gas pipeline network in sub-Saharan Africa, its website says.
