Chilean Stocks: Santander Chile Declines; Multiexport, Paz Gain

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 1.4 percent to 4,127.01. The MSCI Chile index retreated 1.3 percent to 2,231.27.

Banco Santander Chile (BSAN CC) plunged 8.6 percent to 32.76 pesos, the biggest decline in more than nine years. Chile’s largest lender retreated after its controller, Spain’s Banco Santander SA, said it plans to sell a 7.8 percent stake in the company.

Multiexport Foods SA (MULTIFOO CC) rose 0.2 percent to 142.81 pesos. The Chilean salmon farmer reported a profit of $3.87 million in the third quarter, down from $4.72 million a year ago. For the first nine months of the year profit reached $19.9 million, up from $19 million.

Paz Corp SA (PAZ CC) gained 2.5 percent to 269 pesos, the most in four weeks. The Chilean real-estate developer registered to sell bonds in the local market, according to a statement posted on the website of the Chilean securities regulator.
