Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Husky Energy Inc. reported lines had separated on the well-control system at its White Rose project off the shore of Newfoundland and Labrador.
During an inspection at 6 a.m. local time, workers found that the choke and kill lines, which help control pressure, had separated, according to an e-mail from the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board. Control and pressure integrity have not been compromised, Sean Kelly, a board spokesman, said in the e-mail.
The water-injection well, which is used to increase pressure and flush oil out of the undersea reservoir, was at its targeted depth and is in the completion phase, Colleen McConnell, a spokeswoman for Calgary-based Husky, said in a separate e-mail. The rig continues to run casing, or steel pipe, into the well bore, she said.
The rig’s blowout preventer was tested Nov. 18 and Nov. 19 and all subsea blowout prevention equipment is functional, the board said. The well, known as E-18-11, is part of the West White Rose pilot project.
White Rose is located 217 miles (349 kilometers) off Newfoundland.
