Alabama Is Second in BCS Behind LSU After Oklahoma State’s Loss

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The University of Alabama climbed one spot to second behind Louisiana State in college football’s Bowl Championship Series rankings following Oklahoma State’s double-overtime loss two days ago.

LSU (11-0) gave Alabama (10-1) its only defeat, 9-6 in overtime on Nov. 5 and the Southeastern Conference rivals may be headed for a rematch in the BCS title game. The BCS standings determine the two teams that will play for the national title on Jan. 9 in New Orleans.

Oklahoma State had been undefeated and ranked second before losing 37-31 to Iowa State in two overtimes on Nov. 18. The Cowboys (10-1) slipped to fourth this week, one spot behind third-ranked Arkansas (10-1), which visits LSU on Nov. 25 in the regular-season finale for both schools.

The University of Oregon, which was ranked fourth in the BCS, fell to 10th with yesterday’s 38-35 home loss to Southern California. Virginia Tech (10-1) is fifth, followed by Stanford (10-1), Boise State (9-1), Houston (11-0) and Oklahoma (8-2).
