Sweden Seeks New Deal With Switzerland for Information, DI Says

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Sweden is pursuing an agreement with Switzerland to allow the Scandinavian country access to details on taxpayers’ Swiss assets on suspicion of tax evasion, Dagens Industri reported, citing a Finance Ministry official.

Swedish officials are moving to close the deal as soon as possible, DI said, citing Christina Svanhagen, a ministry desk officer.

The deal would allow the tax office to request information, not previously available, from Swiss banks, the paper reported. About 70,000 Swedes have accounts in Swiss banks, DI said, citing tax expert Staffan Andersson of the Bird & Bird law firm.
