Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Chelsea will make a 20 million-pound ($31.6 million) bid to sign Cheick Tiote from its Premier League soccer rival Newcastle in the January transfer window, the Sunday Mirror reported.
The 25-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder is Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas’s top target, the newspaper reported, without saying where it got the information.
Newcastle coach Alan Pardew has not ruled out selling Tiote but said it would “cost a hell of a lot of money,” the newspaper said. Chelsea has attempted to sign the player in both of the last two transfer windows, the Mirror added.
