Nov. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Xstrata Plc said a strike that started Oct. 24 at its ferrochrome operations in South Africa is having a “limited” impact on output, and the company and a labor union may reach an agreement today.

“There’s a limited impact on production at this stage, but customer deliveries have not been affected,” Alison Flynn, a London-based spokeswoman for Xstrata, said in an e-mailed response to questions.

Some workers at Xstrata’s Rustenburg operations have been on strike since Oct. 24 because of a dispute over pay, Songezo Zibi, a spokesman for the company in South Africa, said by phone. Xstrata and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa are holding negotiations, and there may be a positive outcome later today, Zibi said.

Workers will tomorrow march to Xstrata’s offices in Melrose Arch in Johannesburg because of a dispute over wage increases and to demand equal pay at the company’s various smelter operations, Castro Ngobese, a spokesman for the union known as Numsa, said by phone.

The National Union of Mineworkers agreed to end a strike at Xstrata operations in South Africa on Nov. 2 after an accord over an employee share ownership plan.
