Woods Shoots 67 to Take One-Shot Lead at Australian Open Golf

Tiger Woods shot a 5-under-par 67 to take a one-shot lead during the second round of the Australian Open golf tournament in Sydney.

The 14-time major champion, who hasn’t won a title since the 2009 Australian Masters, made seven birdies today to move to 9-under-par through 36 holes at The Lakes Golf Club. A birdie putt on the par-3 ninth hole that would have taken Woods to 10-under stopped an inch short.

With some late starters still out on the course, Woods leads by one stroke from Australia’s Peter O’Malley, who carded a 6-under-par 66. Jason Day, another Australian, is on 7-under-par, one shot ahead of Bubba Watson of the U.S. Overnight leader Jarrod Lyle, who resumed in the afternoon on 7-under, is four shots off the lead after hitting five bogeys today.
