Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz admitted spitting at Wolverhampton’s Richard Stearman and will be suspended for three matches, his club said.
Alcaraz spat at the opposition defender during Wigan’s 3-1 defeat at Wolves, and was charged yesterday by the Football Association. Video showed the Paraguayan national team player’s action, which wasn’t seen by the referee.
“The matter will be treated with utmost seriousness and be dealt with internally, according to the club’s code of conduct,” Wigan said today on its website.
