Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Groupe Auchan SA, a French grocer, plans to buy two Georgian hypermarket companies, the head of one of the retailers said.
Auchan is seeking to buy Goodwill and G.mart, both based in the capital, Tbilisi, Goodwill’s director Mikheil Charkviani told the Rustavi 2 television station today. Goodwill has three stores, while G.mart has one.
The French group has agreed to supply its products to Goodwill in advance of any purchase in order to test the market, Charkviani said. He didn’t mention a potential sale price.
A spokesman for Auchan couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
