Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano underwent heart surgery this morning, the Serie A club said on its website.
Cassano, 29, had a defect in his heart repaired at Milan’s Policlinico hospital, where the Italy international was admitted six days ago after a 3-2 win at Roma.
“All has gone well,” the club said. “Antonio is in recovery and will undergo tests in the next few days to determine when he’ll be able to return home.”
Milan has yet to say how long Cassano, who’s scored two goals in nine games this season, will be sidelined. He joined Milan in January from Sampdoria and helped the club win its first Serie A title since 2004.
